A Perfect Substitute for mans sins
A Perfect Substitute was required to stand in for mans sin, so Jesus, God's Son who was without sin, became the ideal substitute for the sins of everyone.
"For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him”. Jesus was born as a human.
This is a mystery beyond comprehension. Jesus was fully God and also fully human. His name means "savior" or "rescuer." Jesus was God in the flesh or "God with us."
"Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel," which is translated, "God with us." Matthew 1:23.
The angel said of Mary, the mother of Jesus, "And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins" Matthew 1:21.
Jesus lived as a human on earth for just over 33 years, and during that time He demonstrated who God is.
"How God anointed Jesus ... with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him." Acts 10:38.
His whole life was good and perfect. He never sinned. He only reached out and forgave others. He healed the sick. Time and time again the Bible makes statements like, " ... great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them all." Matthew 12:15
Jesus came not only to live a perfect life of goodness and of helping others; He came to take the sin of every human being that had ever lived, including you and me. He who was without sin became sin for us, that we through Him might become the righteousness of God.
